Privacy Policy

PitchWise ("we," "us," "our") makes the PitchWise iPhone app, the PitchWise web app at app.pitchwiseapp.com, and program pages at club.pitchwiseapp.com. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email support@pitchwiseapp.com.

What we collect

When you create an account:

Your email address. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive a private relay address from Apple instead.
Your name, as you enter it.
Whether you're a coach or an athlete.
Your age range at sign-up, only to confirm you're old enough for an account. We don't store your birth date.

When you use PitchWise:

Bullpens and games, pitch by pitch: location, pitch type, ball or strike, pitch count, and an estimated velocity if a coach records one.
Game details recorded by a coach: count, inning, outs, runners on base, the result of each pitch, and which hand the batter hits with. We don't ask coaches to record opposing batters' names.
Arm check-ins: an athlete's own rating of how their arm feels on a given day.
Teams, rosters, jersey numbers, pitch types each pitcher throws, practice plans, and plan completions.
Notes and follow-up flags that coaches add for their own team.
Your time zone, so dates and rest days are correct for you.

Players added by a coach or program. Coaches and program directors can add players to a roster without the player having an account, and can send us a roster so we can set up their program. For these players we receive only a name, a jersey number and the pitch types they throw, plus the pitching data the coach records. We never ask for a player's email address, phone number or birth date. The coach or program adding players is responsible for having permission from the player or a parent to record them.

What we don't collect: we don't use advertising trackers, we don't sell data, and we don't track your location.

Children

Children 12 and under can't create a PitchWise account. The app checks age before an account is made and stops there for anyone 12 or younger.
Younger players can still appear on a team's roster when their coach adds them, with only the limited information described above. Their coach records and views their pitching; the child doesn't use the app themselves.
Athletes 13 to 17 may create an account with a parent's or guardian's permission.
A parent or guardian can ask us to see, correct or delete any information about their child, whether or not the child has an account. Email support@pitchwiseapp.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

How we use information

To run PitchWise: charting, summaries, analytics, rest-day guidance and practice plans.
To show coaches and program directors the information about their own teams.
To manage accounts and subscriptions.
To send service emails, like sign-in links and important account notices.
To fix problems and improve the app. When we look at overall usage, we use counts and totals, not individual records.

Arm check-ins and rest-day guidance are coaching information, not medical advice or medical records.

Our websites use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that counts page views without cookies or personal data.

Who can see your information

Your coaches see the pitching data, arm check-ins and roster information for athletes on teams they coach.
Athletes see their own data and their team's plan. Athletes don't see teammates' pitching data.
Program directors see every team in their program, and can download their program's data as spreadsheet files from their private program page. Downloads are limited to the program's director, and every download is logged. Once a program downloads its data, the program is responsible for how it stores and shares those files.
Program pages are private and require sign-in. The sample program at club.pitchwiseapp.com uses made-up players.
We do not sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.

Service providers we use to run PitchWise:

Supabase: database and sign-in. Data is stored in the United States.
Vercel: hosting for our websites and web app.
Apple: App Store subscriptions and Sign in with Apple.
Google Workspace and Resend: sending and receiving email.

These providers only process information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law.

If you're outside the United States, your information is stored and processed in the United States.

Keeping and deleting information

We keep your information while your account is active.
You can delete your account in the app under Settings. We remove your personal information within 30 days. Pitching data your coach recorded for their team may stay on that team's roster in their records unless you or the coach asks us to remove it.
Coaches can remove players from their rosters at any time. Program directors can ask us to delete their program's data by emailing us.
We may keep totals that can't identify anyone.

Your choices and rights

You can:

See your information: most of it is in the app. For a full copy, email support@pitchwiseapp.com and we'll send it within 30 days as a spreadsheet file.
Correct it: edit your name in the app, or ask your coach or us.
Delete it: delete your account in the app, or email us.
Get a copy of your data: individuals email support@pitchwiseapp.com and we send it within 30 days. Program directors can download their program's data anytime from their program page.

Security

We use encrypted connections, secure sign-in, and database rules that limit each person to the data they're allowed to see. Program pages require sign-in, and data downloads are restricted to directors and logged. No system is perfectly secure, so if you ever believe your account has been misused, tell us right away.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
